The Band

The band in its early days consisted mainly of players from the Brechin area, but in recent times musicians from all over the North East of Scotland have been attracted to the band.

Todays band is made up of players from Brechin, Forfar, Kirriemuir, Edzell, Dundee and Aberdeen. These dedicated musicians’ travel twice weekly to practices throughout the year in preparation for the busy summer schedule of competitions and engagements.

The band include in our ranks members from varying walks of life, all brought together by the common bond of music. These are people of all ages from 12 to 50 giving the band members an average age of 25.

One of the aims of the band is to encourage the playing of pipes and drums by providing free tuition to both youngsters and adults, ensuring the band has a steady flow of talented players for the future.

As well as playing with the band, members also compete in solo competitions under the band name with a large degree of success.
