One of the main aims of the band, is to encourage the playing of pipes and drums by providing free tuition to local youngsters. This ensures a steady flow of talented players for the future.
Until 2007, we were just one band: now we are two.
Due to success in the 2006 season, we were promoted to Grade 3. It was felt that it would be too much of a challenge for new young players to compete at this level.
For this reason, it was decided to form a Grade 4 band. This gives beginners the opportunity to gain experience and cut their teeth in competition at a more suitable level before progressing to the Grade 3 band.
